The Fountain

In the movie The Fountain the main character, tom turkey, tries to find the corner of Life in three different time periods. throughout all the scenes he tries to beat death, so his wife could rattling forever. After he finds a way how to bring round death, it was already too late and his wife passed away. This movie relates to two of the readings: show Theory by Kübler-Ross and Grief, Religion, and Spirituality by Dennis Klass. twain of the readings talk about stages of grief and how to cut with grief that pot experience when they lose a loved one.
In the movie, tomcat was release through two of the stages that Kübler-Ross talked about in her article. hotshot of the stages that he was going through was the stage of Denial. Tommy refused to comply the fact that his wife was going to pass away and no longer be there with him. Another stage portray in the movie was Anger. Tom was angry at everything and everyone; he tried so hard to find a regain for the brain tumor that his wife had, but nothing seemed to work. His wife Izzi was going though the stage of Acceptance. She accepted the fact that she was going to die no matter what and there was no cure for her disease. In gear up to cope with her sickness, she began to write a criminal record about Queen Isabel that was sent out on a mission to travel to Spain and bring sap from a shoetree of life.




Dennis Klass explains in his work that in order for the bereaved parents to cope with their childrens death they need to interact with their childs linking object. He explains, Linking objects… [are] objects that seem to contain the childs presence, such as the childs possessions, favorite songs, or playmates. (Klass) One of the objects that Tom drew on in order to hold fast close to his wife was their wedding ring. The ring represented their gild and the love they had for one another. After he lost the ring, he felt as if he lost a bump of her, because he had nothing that would remind him of her.
